Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 18:55:35 Subject: New happenings Partners in Prayer, You guys know my heart so I will dispense with the introduction and get straight to the news. John Jackson and I are now living in an apartment near the main USP campus. It took awhile but we now have gas for our stove (still do not have gas for our dryer) and a telephone line (although no DSL yet). This apartment is really awesome. Eighty percent of the occupants are students so we have been meeting people and talking to people in the elevators, etc. to establish contacts. We found a Baptist church in the area and have been making contacts there, as well as several of the nearby businesses. We have in mind teaching English at our apartment to meet students and establish a community that we can more effectively impact for Christ. We hope to establish a collegiate church from both this new and the existing community of students. We are not only establishing this new work, but maintaining our existing community as well. Our weekly Bible studies continue to progress as the students develop and mature. My time with the young man that I have been discipling has been good, but I believe that it could be much better. Before, during, and especially after our times together I have noticed an increase in temptation and distraction. Satan is working against what Christ is seeking to accomplish in our time together. The Word of God is a great comfort here as Christ says in John 16:33, "In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." I can't stress enough how much of a blessing it has been (and will continue to be) to live and work with John Jackson. He has infused our, previously two man, team with new ideas and enthusiasm. Living with him in this new apartment close to the campus is really what I always dreamed my work here would be like. I praise God for this blessing. Most pressing prayer needs: Quality Spirit-filled time with the young man I am discipling Direction on teaching English Direction on starting a church Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Justin
