Date: Tue, 2 Apr 2002 20:50:09 Subject: Full speed ahead Friends, Have you forgotten about me? Its been a long time since I have written. However, just because I have been silent does not mean I haven't been busy. In fact, I would say the opposite was true. I have been silent because I have been so busy. In the past month the work has really started to take shape. To get an overall feel for what is going on down here please read: http://www.keyspace.org/passion.html The Bible studies have been very interesting. We have really been able to engage the students, and they have really been able to engage us. Its been awesome to see God put students in our path. You may remember Anderson (who I mentioned in the last email). Well, I met with him again today while John met with some other students. I may end up seeing him on a weekly basis because I will be at the law school at least once a week. We are getting a Bible study together at the law school and students have been coming to US wanting to get involved. There are some really sharp guys attending the law school and they have a lot of potential. We already have one Bible study in the history department and the doors are also opening for a Bible study in other departments as well. We may be able to get something started in the language department and the the philosophy department. This was a big surprise to me and John because we expected the philosophy department to be the last place we would go due to the general hostility that Christianity encounters in that kind of environment. However, we have put into contact with a few people that seem interested in starting something. We are developing a Portuguese website that will have evangelism, discipleship, prayer, and apologetics sections. This will be a tool to allow the students to explore Christianity on their own time. We hope to make it easily digestible but deep enough to give students a good, basic understanding of Jesus Christ. The development of much of this website is going to be my responsibility. However, I am not going to be providing a lot of content, just the design and technical details. I am getting weekly Portuguese lessons from the pastor of the church I usually attend. He is a very cool guy, and he just happened to have graduated from USP. We meet on Thursdays and just talk about all sorts of stuff. He usually gives me homework which is odd because I haven't had any homework for a year and a half. I enjoy it a great deal. Day to day I am doing very well with homesickness and things like that. It is rare now for me to get discouraged about such things. Thoughts comes across my mind about home all the time, but I remember with fondness rather than sadness. Thank you for your prayers concerning these matters. Please pray for: The students currently in our Bible studies The national missionary we are working with (Alexandre) John's and my vision for the work That God will draw new students to us and we would seek them out as well Thats all for now. I love you guys. Justin P.S. You can check out the website of my "team" at http://www.trusteam.net which includes bios on all the team members
