Date: Sat, 3 Nov 2001 19:30:25 Subject: Steady as she goes Friends, Its been a good week. Has there been one yet that I haven't said was good? God is so faithful. I waver in between great and rotten many times, but He always pulls me out and strengthens my faith in the end. This week I have been able to chat for the first time with people back in the States. I use AOL's Instant Messenger and my screen name is "justininbrazil." If you want to chat I am on many times in the evenings (which would be your afternoons since the time difference is 4 hours). I haven't had any school this week so things have been kind of slow. I had some more training during the beginning of the week in Pioneer Evangelism (which I mentioned in my last email). On Wednesday we learned how to do "paint-talks." A paint-talk is just a specific way to present the Gospel by painting a special picture which helps people understand the Gospel better. Wednesday evening we even went out and did one in downtown. It was fun and educational as well. Friday was the Brazilian's Memorial Day. On this day many people go to the cemetery and pray to the dead and ask them for miracles and other such things. A group of missionaries went down to the cemetery to observe and learn. It was interesting, if not frightening. The bright spot in the day came when we were leaving and a local church was doing a mime skit about the Gospel. They did a very good job and I was moved to tears. It was powerful but simple, just like the Gospel. Miscellaneous notes: I have put some pictures of my house and some other things up on my webpage (http://www.keyspace.org). I highly recommend Caedmon's Call's newest album "In the Company of Angels". I have always been a fan of theirs and this album is great - if not one of their best. I may get to go to the beach on Thanksgiving with some other missionary families - should be interesting. Pray for: Language (yes, again) Direction about my future ministry in Sao Paulo Making the most of my free time Motivation to get into and stay in the Word I love you guys! Justin
