Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 17:11:26 Subject: Awesome week Greetings from Brazil, This past weekend was not that great but this week has been awesome. First lets start with last weekend. I went to another city to listen to a choir program. I we left Friday night and I stayed with some people from my church that this other Brazilian family's home. I was pretty wiped out when I got there, but my friends were far from tired. I went to bed around midnight, but they stayed up and goofed off until 5 am (wow!). The next day we had nothing to do but wait until the choir performance that night. It was pretty boring. However the choir performance that night was great and pretty much made up for the bad afternoon and previous night. Ok, on to this week. Language school was been progressing well. I am starting to say things without thinking about them. That is, I don't have to sit there and translate them in my head first. I just know what they are. Also this week I moved into my own place. It is a house with 3 bedrooms, dining room, living room, den, kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. I am the only one living here so you can imagine that it gets kinda lonely at times. It was quite lonely at first, but I got used to it after a day. I am now only a 2 minute walk from school instead of an hour and a half bus ride away. I have finally unpacked all of my bags and have been able to have the freedom I have craved since I got here. Its been really awesome. It was kind of sad to leave my family, but I will still be seeing them at church and so forth. Today I went to some seminars. It was led by a dude named Wade Akins who was a missionary in Brazil for awhile, but is now touring the world teaching this church planting methodology. Some of you might remember that he preached at the Summit last year and he also visited the U of A Fayetteville. The training is basically just what the Summit has been putting into practice with its BodyLife ministry. It was good to hear the concepts again and refresh my memory. It also served to solidify and reinforce my decision to be here and put this methodology into practice. You can read more about it at http://www.pioneerevangelism.org if you like or you can go to http://www.thesummitchurch.org/BodyLife. This week should be cool too. I don't have language school this week because I have more seminars. We are going to learn how to do "paint-talks" and then go watch Wade do them on the street. I don't know what this is going to be like, but I am sure it will be interesting. Oh yeah, my "routes" are going well. They were pretty hard at first, but now I am getting used to the people and they are getting used to me. I am not usually one to just go up and talk to strangers so it was kind of awkward at first. Pray for: Language Fighting loneliness I love you guys. Thanks for all the encouraging emails. Justin
